Live Lebanon UNDP proudly unveiled a new social development project on the 11th of April in Akkar as they remain committed to sustainable, high impact initiatives that transform deprived communities across the country.

There is a lack of social and cultural opportunities in the village of Ain Yaacob due to the lack of sport clubs and other youth facilities. This has led to a negative impact on adolescent’s behavior and social interaction between the different youngsters in the villages. Providing social and cultural opportunities for rural youths, Live Lebanon built a new sports field and playground which offers a chance for social interaction between young people, benefiting the residents of Ain Yaacoub as well as its surrounding villages such as Bazbina and Chaqdouf.

The inauguration took place on the very playground Live Lebanon constructed. After the inauguration, a friendly basketball match took place between local youth overjoyed with their new sports field.

The inauguration drew many attendees, including Live Lebanon’s Goodwill Ambassador Bouran Bouery and the mayor of the Municipality Majid Der Bias, who spoke of the new opportunities that the youth in Ain Yaacoub and the surrounding villages now have: getting to know each other and build close ties and friendships. Other attendees included the UNDP Country Director Luca Renda, UNDP Area manager Abdallah Muhieddine and BBAC representative, Rania Khalil.
