The LIVE LEBANON initiative will reach Africa this month with the Lebanese flag flown on Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.

A group of eight young Lebanese and Arab adventurers have decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Two of the group members, Dany Farha and Jamil Marmarchi have decided to dedicate this challenging activity to support local development projects through LIVE LEBANON.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa nearly 6,000 meters (20,000 feet) in altitude. The climb will take more than eight days (6 up and 2 down) to complete under challenging circumstances especially the lack of oxygen and low temperatures at the summit. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will be a challenge of a lifetime.

The climb will commence on 26 November 2009 and the group consists of the following members: Marwan Zakhem, Reda Gargour, Dany Farha, Rabea Ataya (all Lebanese), Jamil Marmarchi, Laith Marmarchi, Ali Anezi (Iraqi) and Dasha Badrawi (Egypt). UNDP appreciates their effort and wishes them success in their endeavor.

You can support the team while promoting local development in Lebanon by contributing to the Kilimanjaro Campaign created under LIVE LEBANON.
