The Kilimanjaro Campaign under LIVE LEBANON has completed. This initiative which started as a simple idea developed into a life-changing experience for many people. When Mr. Dany Farha approached UNDP with the idea of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, LIVE LEBANON had recently been launched. His enthusiasm to support LIVE LEBANON gave the initiative the courage it needed to commence its ambitious plan for making local development in Lebanon a reality.
The journey started in Tanzania where a group of eight adventurers aimed to climb and reach the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. It took six days of harsh climate conditions and challenging circumstances to reach the summit. Mr. Farha and his peers endured very low temperatures, risky terrain, and the lack of oxygen at certain heights to reach their intended goal. The courage and determination they possess is commendable and LIVE LEBANON is grateful for the overwhelming support they demonstrated.
LIVE LEBANON is indebted to Mr. Farha for undertaking this challenge and for choosing its initiative as the beneficiary of the funds gathered. More than $21,000 USD has been allocated for LIVE LEBANON through all those who encouraged this challenging endeavor. UNDP has commenced the implementation of one of its projects benefiting more than 130 kindergarten children who had nothing to play with during recreational periods. However, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Farha and his peers, generations of students will have an appropriate playing field equipped with toys and recreational material.
What used to be an empty, concrete playfield which flooded on every rainy day will become a child’s dream park with appropriate toys and safe recreational equipment in professionally engineered facilities. Thanks to the Kilimanjaro Campaign children will look forward to coming to school and freely using the provided equipment.
Thanks to all those who encouraged Mr. Farha and his peers, students will play and have fun during every ordinary school day.
