UNDP Live Lebanon Goodwill Ambassador Mr. Fadi Salameh inaugurated the renovation project of the Maarouf Saad Nursery School in Sidon, accompanied by UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Robert Watkins. The inauguration ceremony organized by the administration of the school was attended by local and regional authorities.

Mr. Salameh chose to support this project given his interest in the wellbeing of children, especially the classrooms and playgrounds in which they learn and play. The Maarouf Saad Nursery in Sidon needed urgent renovation, schooling more than 165 children every year. The facilities in the school leaked rain-water from the ceiling and walls causing highly humid environments. The paint on the walls faded as a result. Water also flooded in the playground not allowing kids to play recreational activities.

The renovation works greatly improved the facilities thanks to Mr.  Salameh's support. Live Lebanon oversaw the repainting of the interior walls of the facility, expanding the kitchen area and renovating the restrooms to ensure minimal hygiene and safety standards. Also, the playground has been restructured by removing metal poles from the ground and placing soft flooring as safety precautions for kids. A small football area has also been designated for the active fans of the sport. In order to have a closer look at the project implementation stages, please visit the dedicated project page.
